5-star rated by Frederick County dog owners

Sound familiar?

You're not doing anything wrong. Most dogs were never actually taught how to walk on a leash — they just learned that pulling gets them where they want to go.

  • Your shoulders ache from your dog yanking you toward squirrels, other dogs, etc

  • You avoid walks, or try to walk your dog when no one else is around

  • You wrap the leash around your hand multiple times when you see other dogs

  • You watch other owners walk with their dogs so easily and wonder why your dog can't do that

Don't worry, we can help!

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you know this will work for MY dog?

Totally fair question — but here's the honest answer: we haven't met the dog that's the exception to how mammals learn. We have trained hundreds of dogs, with all personality types, from bouncy, super-motivated working breeds to independent dogs and anxious rescues who need a lot of patience. We are experts in how animals learn, and we tailor the approach based on what we know from our experience will work for your situation.

I've tried training before and it didn't work. What makes you different?

We hear this a lot, and it's usually not about effort — it's about method. A lot of programs teach a dog to listen in a quiet room and stop there. You have no way to get the dog to listen amid competing distractions. We introduce distractions starting on day 3, and we make sure you — not just your dog — know exactly how to handle distractions when they appear. That's the piece most training skips.

What kind of training methods do you use?

We use techniques that are dog-friendly and veterinarian-approved, focusing on building a trusting relationship with your dog. Any training tools are determined during evaluation. We focus on giving you real control and safety on the walk without breaking your dog's spirit to get there.

Board-and-train or day camp — which is right for my dog?

Either one works. Board and train includes overnight care, which can be helpful if you live far away. With day training, your dog will still be trained to the same standard, but you drop them off in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon.

We know you'll miss your dog regardless, so all programs include regular video updates so you know what your dog is up to and how they're doing.

What if my dog still pulls after the program?

The whole idea of the training is that we give your dog the skills to deal with distractions. We install the "software" in your dog, and train you how to run the program. But we know it can take time to change your own habits, which is why the program includes 2 months of group classes — ongoing practice and support, not just a one-and-done lesson. If something's not clicking, we're right there to help you work through it.

What happens after the 2 months of group classes end?

You can keep going — Pup Scouts classes are $179/month whenever you want to keep practicing.

What if my dog needs more than just leash training?

We've got other programs if you want to go further. We'll talk through it on your free consult.

We help dogs and owners just like you

every day.

We can help your walks go from a dreaded chore to something you actually look forward to.

No more worrying that the leash is going to get yanked out of your hand.

No more neighbors crossing the street because your dog is lunging and barking.

Here's how it works:

your dog spends 7 days with us in intensive day camp or board-and-train — whichever fits your dog and your life.

Then we bring you in for a go-home lesson. In just 1 hour, we teach you the exact leash handling techniques we taught your dog.

Our entire training system is designed to be very transferable to the owner, so it works just as well when you're the one holding the leash.

You also get 2 months of Pup Scouts group classes included, so you can practice around real distractions — other dogs, other people, real sidewalks — with us right there to help.

What's included

  • 7-day intensive day camp or board-and-train (your choice)

  • Private go-home lesson — you learn the same techniques your dog just learned

  • 2 months of Pup Scouts group classes, to practice around real-world distractions

  • Option to add extra months of group classes or day training to keep the momentum going

But don't take our word for it...
